FCTUC

The University of Coimbra (UC) was founded in the year 1290, being the oldest in Portugal and one of the oldest in the world. The Department of Informatics Engineering (DEI) is one of the 14 departments of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of UC. Its research unit, the Centre for Informatics and Systems of the UC (CISUC), aims at carrying out original R&D, training highly qualified young researchers and co-operating in International and National R&D projects, with both academia and industry, and has registered, over the last years, an increasing activity on multidisciplinary and emergent research subjects.

INESCTEC

INESC TEC is an Associated Laboratory and a private non-profit research institution having as associates the University of Porto, INESC, and the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, recognised as an Associate Laboratory that has been classified as “Excellent”. With around 1000 researchers (350+ PhD), working in the interface between academia and industry, the activity at INESC TEC runs under the paradigm of the knowledge to value production chain: results generated at basic research are typically injected in technology transfer projects thus receiving added economic and social relevance.

Instituto de Telecomunicações

Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) is a private, non-profit organization, of public interest, whose main goal is to create and disseminate scientific knowledge in the field of telecommunications, having several sites throughout the country, and over 600 collaborators, of which 260 with PhD. The research teams. The research teams involved in this project are focused in the Aveiro site, composing a critical mass of its researchers, covering the areas of wireless communications, optical communications, communication and multimedia networks, in a total of six distinct research groups, which include a IEEE Fellow, a IEE Fellow, and national representatives of different 5G standardisation fora.

TICE.PT

The National Portuguese ICT Cluster TICE.PT, Site of Information Technologies, Communication and Electronics, was formally recognised by the Portuguese Government in August 2009, within the framework of Collective Efficiency Strategies of NSRF.

The TICE.PT aims to promote and leverage networking strategies for the sector. Network between companies and R&D centers, in order to induce a renewal active in national economic context, producing positive effects on national offering, enhanced by innovation and knowledge, creating export capacity and added value in domestic products.
